We'd like to inform you about the potential impacts of the ongoing Canada Post strike on order fulfilment. At Gooten, we are actively working to mitigate disruptions by leveraging our vendor network and prioritising manufacturers not solely dependent on Canada Post. Fortunately, we have alternative solutions in place, but there remains a possibility that some orders may be returned due to the strike.
Gooten has 40+ vendors in our network that are receiving a substantial number of orders from us this season. We are routing Canada orders within our network to shipping options that deliver into Canada (for instance, FedEx, UPSMI, Ascendia). In most cases, Gooten is rerouting (while ensuring product redundancy) and absorbing the increased shipping cost. We are managing this on a case-by-case order basis as it varies by product, merchant, and print vendor.
Despite the strike and the public information posted by various carriers, surprisingly, we have seen deliveries in Canada being made as recently as yesterday afternoon, which makes this difficult to predict. The latest information posted by USPS (Effective Nov 29) is that they are suspending all in-service service in Canada. We will continue to reroute where possible.
Our Operations Team is conducting a thorough analysis to identify specific manufacturers or products that might be affected. We'll make sure to give you detailed updates as soon as possible for you. In the meantime, we strongly recommend that Merchant Partners like yourself proactively communicate with their Canadian customers about the strike and the potential for delivery delays in some instances. While this situation is beyond our control, we are committed to minimising the impact on your business.
